James Barton, MD, is a native of Jasper, Alabama. He graduated from Walker High School, Walker College, and The University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1995, he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Barton completed his Internal Medicine Residency at The Baptist Health System, training at Princeton and Montclair Medical Centers in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1998. He has been board-certified in Internal Medicine since 1999 and is a member of:

• The American Board of Internal Medicine
• The American College of Physicians
• The American Diabetes Association
• The Medical Association of the State of Alabama

Dr. Barton is married to his wife, Amanda, and they have four children and three dogs. They are active members of First Baptist Church of Jasper. He enjoys spending time with family and friends.
